I am upgrading from a 55Gallon to a 75Gallon with a 30 gallon sump am also going to upgrade my skimmer. I can either do an in sump skimmer or hang on the back, just want to know all your experiences with your skimmers. Please let me know both good and bad. THANKS.

I use a hang on back but hang it on my sump. That gives me more room in the sump for other stuff but keeps it out of sight on the tank.

I do love the in-sump. If something goes wacko then the crud just ends up in the sump, NOT all over the floor or in your stand.

Hang on skimmers are typically smaller. You can have a much bigger and way taller skimmer in your sump.

Here's my skimmer in my sump, there is literally 1/8" space between the top of the skimmer and the underside of the display tank :)
