My male naso tang that I have had for 6 months has finally stop eating. It hasn't eaten for three days. Any clue why the fish will stop? It is usually the first to eat and now, the tang refuse to eat?
I recently added three tangs bigger than the male naso. Could he be depressed since he is smaller by two inches. The naso is about 12". Could it be old age?

I doubt it, do you know where the naso came from? Like Hawaii or Bali or the Philipeans. Because if it's from the Phillipeans, they use cyand(spelling) to gather fish and in the aquarium effects are not seem right away and after weeks of eating they just stop because damage had already be done. I don't know thats just my guess

I had this tang for over 6 months. When I added the three dussumieri tangs in the tank, it just stop eating. I got the tang from exoticfish.com. It was about 9" and now it's 13" or bigger.
If you are wondering about the size tank, it's in a 560 gal tank. I just check my parameters:
nitrate = 5 ppm
ammonia - 0
ph 8.0
cal 450
mg 1150
temp 78.9

It would not have lasted 6 months if it had been cyanide caught.
Naso's are one of the more docile Tangs. He may be reacting to his new tankmates. Watch for signs of aggression.
Maybe try feeding him away from the others
Fish can go a few days without eating...2 weeks and a fish can die.
if the fish is still not eating in a few days, he may have other problems...Did you qt these new Tangs? They could have brought in parasites .
He could have an internal bacterial infection, Naso's seem prone to internal infections. This would need to be treated with antibiotics.
Hopefully yours will began eating again soon!

I have anti-biotics for human consupmtion. Can I just drop a tablet of anti-biotics for the naso tang.
Also, what types of vitamins can I drop in the tank without harming the tank?
The male naso tang shows no aggression toward any new or old tankmates. I would dump a hand food of forumula 2 and he would just swim past the food like he was not interested.
