I have a copy of Borneman's coral book, but there's one thing I'm not clear on when it comes to coral "chemical warfare".

Do corals of the same genus/type tolerate the presence of allelopaths from others of the same type?

For example, are finger leathers able to tolerate the presence of a toadstool leather?

i don't think sarcos of different species will bother each other under normal conditions but i have seen them respond (negatively) if another sarco (different species) is under duress or attack in the same tank.

but ime finger leathers (typically ID'd as sinularia or lobophytum) can be noxious to other corals, regardless of species/genus, even in their "normal" state.
