Are soft pipes (ie spa flex ) more silent then hard ( ie pvc ) ?

You know, I would think that maybe they might be a tiny bit quieter. But I would think the best use of spaflex would be in the elimination of 90's and 45's that restrict flow.

Like mfinn already said, spa flex really excels at reducing frictional losses.

As for hard pipe transferring vibration it's really relative to how well thought out your plumbing is. If you have pipe coming directly off a return pump and as it exits the stand it touches the wood then yes, it could resonate a bit more sound.
