Ok a week ago I bought a Potter's angel. He ate mysis at the store. He was in a tank with a bunch of fish that went into a feeding frenzy. So I was excited because he was such a gorgeous fish. How do I get him to eat mysis now besides buying 5 more fish. He is in a 75 gallon with 100lbs of mature rock. Any tips are to be appreciated. Doesn't appear bullied by my maroon or YT. He swims circles around them darting in and out of the rock. I do see him picking off the rock and glass. You think he is full from that? I don't want to lose him because he is so beautiful.

Any ideas are appreciated. I will do anything for this fish.

yes this question has been posted countless times before.

he'll live off live rock and still be fat --took mine 4 months then it went on to eat everything flakes, brine, mysis, and even other fishes feces!

I posted on getting my Potters to eat a couple weeks back. This has been my experience (keeping in mind we have an N = 1 here): fed live brine with Selcon in the same spot two times per day, which the Potters chowed on. After about a week I dropped in live brine and frozen mysis (PE brand). The other fish (clown fish) jumped on everything, while the Potters ate the brine and mouthed one or two pieces of mysis. Throughout the next week, the ratio was altered with more mysis than brine. The Potters just started eating small pieces of the mysis and now that is all I feed the tank, and he eats with gusto. Incidentally, my Mandarin learned to eat mysis the same way. Ah, the wonders of behavioral modification. Just call me the fish whisperer.

Key to a potters is a well established tank that he/she can browse on all day. Some will choose to eat mysis, brine, flake or whatever quickly and others quite a while later. In the meantime supply it with lots of grazing.

He has 100+ lbs of LR in the tank to eat off of. I am not scraping the glass till for awhile. He has started eating Nori that floats off when the tang hits the clip too hard.

keep tyring. they are a very hardy fish once they get going. Try a variety of foods, like pettlets flake, brine, mysis etc etc.

which shop did you buy it from?

You might want to try soaking the mysis in some garlic. For some reason fish love it.

^^^absolute best way (other than finding a healthy individual to begin with) to ensure success with this species.

how much is a lot of grazing? I put Nori (2postage stamps sized) on a clip and it's gone overnight. Never seen the Potters eat it though.

Not initially.

Mine took cyclopeez, but wouldnt take anything else for a while. Hes starting to take shredded mysis. Stop scraping your glass, and feed heavy for a while.

I am now feeding heavy as in every day. Prior to this fish I fed roughly once every week or 2+ weeks. Only adding Nori daily. Didn't have a problem with this method as I think I kept it up for a year. The Potter's will eat one or two mysis when I feed so now its just a matter of time IMO.
