I started a fuge in my sump using a silver shop light and so far i have been using a CFL bulb (the replacement light bulbs that are in a spiral). Has anyone used these before ?

Yeah, I use one some even have Kelving rating on them. The one I use is 5500K. It works fine and my Cheato is growing.

There's a thread about them (melevreef??).

What you'r looking for s a "daylight" spectrum. They can be found (I think), in the U.S. at Walmart under the trade name Lights of America. The K rating on most bulbs are available by calling the customer service number on the package. One thing I haven't been able to find (yet) is a daylight spectrum bulb in a spotlight fixture. At Home Depot, there's a clip-on reflector fixture for around $12.00. For less than $30.00, it's a killer 'fuge light. Cheato and coraline love it.

27w 5500k full spectrum made by n:vision works great on my 30 fuge.
