I have a small saltwater tank (eclipse 2, I think). Maybe about a month ago, weird little things, that appear to be some sort of filter feeders, have appeared. I also have a bunch of tiny white swirls, which I believe they are called something like Spirorbids.

Anyway, I have a photo of the things which I circled in red. Are they harmful? Is it just some weird algae/fungus growth or something?

Thanks,
DarkEdward

they are fine, nothing to worry about. Just simple sponges that grow in a maturing reef tank is all, ... they are a sign that all is well and you should be happy.

Looks like a tunicate to me. I have them. They aren't anything to worry about.

Hmm, really? I am worried about my nitrate/nitrite levels being high... my flame scallop already croaked on me T.T
