It really depends on the type of expoxy. The 2-part "plastic epoxy" should be ok.

HOME DEPOT --
THEY SELL A TWO PART EPOXY PASTE THAT IS NON TOXIC AFTER CURING AND IT IS MARINE GRADE. I THINK IT IS CALLED PC-11.
I USED IT FOR MY SUMP AND HAD NO PROBLEMS.

I used the two part epoxy for plastic and covered it with aquarium silicon when it dried just to be safe

Make sure it has no metal fillers in the ingredients.
Also, every time I use 2 part, my skimmer works overtime for about 12 hours.

I don't know if it's available in the US, but Milliput is a reef safe epoxy.
Made in the UK, but I know it's shipped worldwide, cheep to in comparison to most brands ;)

Aqua-mend from home depot is perfectly fine to use. I use it to epoxy frags to rock.

Two types of plastic epoxy. I have used the first for my skimmer with great success.
