Other ways to mount lighting besides hoods and from the ceiling?

Is there any other way to mount lighting other than using hoods and from the ceiling? I would like to raise mine higher than the mounting legs provided. I saw a picture of using two brackets to hold up the light from the rear of the tank. Anybody know anything about this?

I've seen many tanks like that. They use the A-Frame joists. Seems to work for them. One thing that I did about a year ago when I first got my MH and didn't have a canopy yet was to suspend the reflector on chains from a spring tension rod. It worked very well and was very mobile.
