Has anyone used LEDs as a tank light source?

I'm wondering if its feasible to use LEDs as an alternative to HQI/t5/PCs. I think it would be fun to wire them up, but I really have no clue as far as the light output / spectrum of an LED.

Anyone have any input?

I believe Premium Aquatics has been selling PFO's LED lights. Not cheap though.
