I figured I would take full advantage of my membership and start a blog. If you are viewing this, please feel free to make tasteful comments and advice.

This deployment has given me COPIOUS amounts of time to research and plan improvements and upgrades to my 125gal tank.

I have all of these on a living word document, but why not share (and open myself to comments and suggestions)?

Round One.....Chapter Three (RO/DI and QT)

Always looking for a great deal....Even while deployed in Africa...
I scored this 55gal (Quarantine Tank) on Craigslist for $35!!


Now the TO/DO list for water production and QT

[B]TO DO:[/B]
[B]-RO/DI and Water Changes[/B] -Mount RO/DI unit under sink. [url][/url]
-Install 5th stage for inclusion of chloramines carbon block.
-(2)Cheap blue/white 55gal water barrels.
- 55- Gallon Barrels (Plastic w/ Screw-top):
-(2)Floats in each bucket (3-way valve from supply line to separate buckets) (Ensure Check valve and Auto Shutoff valve are on RO/DI Unit.)
-(1)Pump to move water upstairs to valve under kitchen sink to allow 5gal bucket filling in kitchen (Salt and RO/DI) (Approx. 12’)
[B]-Submersible Pump 1060 GPH Aquarium Fish Tank Fountain[/B]: $43.77 [url][/url]
[B]-AquaticLife 3300L:[/B] $83.49 [url][/url]

- 3-Way valve to fill salt and RO/DI water in QT tank downstairs.
-Valves/faucet under kitchen sink that produces salt water.
-3/4 nylon tubing (10’-13’ to run upstairs), ball valve, mounting, elbows…
-Extension cord with switch (To start/stop basement pump from upstairs)

-Power strips
-Coralife light fixture.
-Need timer
-Use Maxijet powerhead (strongest one)
-Heater that is already downstairs
-Use HOB filter (NO CARBON)
-Need filters
-New net
-Glass scrubber
-Egg crate screen
