So what kind of soft coral has polyops that retract fast ?

I was at a guys house and he had a soft coral that would retract its polops fast and they would come back out just about as fast.

SO whta kind do you think it was?? Looked like a type of colt ??

I'm sorry, but that's just not enough to go on to hazard a guess. Lots of softies can do the quick open/quick close routine so it's not really a defining characteristic. Can you describe the coral in more detail?

Its hard to remember. I think it was pink and had a thick base. That tapperd to soft points. It was about 1ft x 1ft Kinda pink in color.

Hello,

xenia do not retract...

sounds like some stolonifera kind, most probably Briareum sp. (formerly known as Clavularia viridis)

regards

Markus
