powerhead for 10 gallon?
Right now i have Hydor Koralia Nano Aquarium Pump, 4.5 Watts powerhead, but i'm afraid it's not enough. Should i get bigger powerhead?
here's my tank http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/a8dccccc.jpg Also, now i added 1-1.5" of sand, after taking that picture. |
That pump is rated at 425gph and you don't think that is enough? In a 10g tank you're turning your water over 40+ times/hour. It should be more than enough, maybe even too much in a tank that small. Two smaller pumps with one at either end might be a better solution.

looked like it wasn't enough. I can still put corals in right?

How long has the tank been running? Is it cycled? What kind of light do you have? And after all that, the answer is ... maybe.

Let it cycle and then you should be OK with easy (hearty) corals. But I'd consider a small basic crean up crew first (a snail or two, a hermit crab or two, maybe a peppermint shrimp... these are all inexpensive). And odds are that somewhere down the road in the next few months, you are going to have some kind of an algae bloom. Don't buy anything expensive until after that happens. Take your time and it should work out OK. Rush it and you'll likely have a mess on your hands.

Thanks for the help |
I have two koralia 240gph in my 10gal with no problems
|
i had the nano 425 in my 10g nano tank. It work great, my torch loved it.

The GPH on those Koralia pumps are notoriously inaccurate IMO. I use a Koralia 1 to mix water in a 5 gallon bucket and the water hardly moves. I can't imagine using that in a 10 gallon tank as my only circulation pump. I can see the scum on top of the water now. You might want to consider either upgrading or adding another powerhead.

Anyway, a 425 would be fine alone in a 10g. I think 2 nano 240s would work "better" just because you could get a little more of a random flow. |
Looks like you have a HOB filter as well. This is also adding flow. You will prob be ok with what you have. A little more might not hurt, but Some on this site will mount a 300hp outboard in their tank as soon as they can figure out how to do it.
