RED Stains on rocks
3 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone, i have this red type of stains growing on my rock. i Had a problem of nitrates and Po4 though this is not a problem anymore and the red is not Cayano as it does not come off like cayano does. i noticed its fast growth since i have switched from t5 to high powered 15000k Led lights. here are 2 pictures about 2 weeks from each other.
Thanks |
anyone? :/

Looks like cyano to me
well i haven't removed the probability of it actually being cyano though my levels are way down to what they were when i had an outbreak of this. No3 10 -15 and Po4 0.03 - 0.1.
And this is sort of stains not easily removed. this weekend i will try and brush it off and see what happens : ) Thanks |
Using tap water?
Nope, Well Water mixed with sea water, params of well water are no2,no3,amonia, po4 all 0,
TDS around 60 though since using sea water, i only use a little well water since salinty is 1.030 from the sea. |
Where is your sea water source?
Malta ie mediterranean sea and i always make sure its extra clean!
Could be burgundy coralline algae. I had some in the beginning of the tank, and now over a year later it's made a comeback on my glass & rocks, mixed with the purple & pink.
I agree with sushi girl, looks like the same burgandy colored corraline I have in my tanks
Can you blow it off your rocks and decorations? If you can it might just be a type of diatom.
nope cannot blow it off, also tried brushing it off though it wont go :) sounds like coraline!
+1 on the burgany coralline. I have a few splotches in my tank and on some snails. Along with some green, pink, purple, and orange!
