Hammer coral help pls.

Ok, I have a hammer that was being attacked by my filefish. I got the filefish out and one head he completely killed and the other head I managed to save so I think anyways. It hasn't really opened back up it has been a few weeks. Is there anything I can do?

All you can do is wait.Hopefully it will recover. You can try a mendicant called a coral dip.

The best thing is to leave it alone for a while.

Yes.

One thing that will help is being sure your alkalinity is around 8.3 and your calcium about 420, and your magnesium about 1350. Correct them in this order: mg, then alk, then cal.

If that head dies, leave it where it is. Sometimes after you think they are dead new heads can pop out.

+1 on leaving it alone

Corals don't like to be moved around. Let it heal and grow.

That's the big benefit of branches rather than walls....lose a branch, keep the rest...but once the wall starts going...bye bye...

Don’t give up on it, can take a while for it to come back!

iodine dip may help. good luck. its amazing how well corals can regenerate. as long as theres some type of indication of flesh of coral i would keep it in the tank and hope for the best. hth
