Zeovit starts today

After reading for a few weeks on zeovit, I decided to give it a try. Day 1 starts today. I will be updating from time to time on the results of using zeo. I will also be taking a lot of pics as time goes on. I know better results doesnt happen overnight and may take a few months to see any results. There is really nothing wrong with my tank, I just want to see if I can achieve better growth and coloration on my corals. Lets see what happens!

very nice!!!!!

Crit21 01/23/2006 02:48 PM

So now all of the follow-up photos have to be framed exactly alike so we can see the proress.

Deuce67 01/25/2006 07:45 PM

Week 1 is over and 2 is here. Nothing to report since there has been no change in the tank. I know, its still really early.

COreefer 01/27/2006 03:04 PM

That's a fine looking tank Russ...

Crit21 01/27/2006 06:10 PM

I wish I had half that many corals. How's the RTN situation?

calvin415 01/27/2006 07:44 PM

Hey Russ, where's your superman bro? :) How's yours doing? Mine has really started to grow now, it's almost completely covering the frag it was on, and is starting to encrust on the rock below on one side! At this rate I might have frags available in 6 months!

Deuce67 01/29/2006 04:49 PM

Just got back from my hunting trip. The superman is near the bottom. Right above the elegance and to the left. I may raise it a bit to see if I can get the polyps to turn red.

I lost the colony but manged to save a few branches. I havent had it since. I talked to COreefer about it and it may either be a sudden change in alk or some salt residue might have got on it. Everything is fine now.

Deuce67 02/05/2006 07:19 AM

Update. I had 2 frags RTN on me. Not sure if it was zeo related or not. They where pretty hard to care for corals. One was a A. hyacinthus and the other was a A. Gemmifera. Both frags where acquired from RM. It never did anything since I recieved it.

murfman 02/05/2006 03:24 PM

I have read that with Zeovit, there is a chance of RTN once you start the program. Once the system is "established" everything stabilizes and looks great.

calvin415 02/06/2006 02:07 PM

Hey Russ, sorry to hear about your A. hyacinthus, let me know when things stabilize and I'll try to hook you up with a new frag of it. :)

Deuce67 02/06/2006 06:43 PM

Thanks Eric. But it wasnt my red hyacinthus that rtn on me. It was a green freebie that I got a few months back from RM.

Deuce67 02/09/2006 09:18 PM

Update. I may have found the cause of my rtns. Zeo method is definitely different from other methods of reefkeeping. On my zeo dosing, everything has to be followed pretty much to the tee. On my tank, the amount of carbon that I needed is 3/4 of a cup that is place in a filter sock and placed in a passively low flow area of my sump. This bag is kneaded 3X a week. I mistakenly put 1 3/4 cup of carbon. Way too much for the zeo method. Too much trace elements are being removed. I put in the right amount now and will see what happens in the next few weeks. Hopefully it will be ready for the April meeting.

murfman 02/09/2006 11:53 PM

wow, and we think carbon is good.....

Deuce67 02/12/2006 11:13 AM

Carbon is good for our system. No more than 1 cup/100g and changed monthly.
