WXM Module Worth It?
I have two vortech MP40 WES's. Is it worth getting the WXM to control them? I'd usually just set them to Reef Crest mode or Nutrient Export.

There is a you tube video about this. The guy swears it's the best thing he's done. He has two mp 10s. Has them alternating for six seconds.

Ok so I had to see this video. The guy might actually have a point, also from looking at his live stock and equipment when you are at that level something like this could make a difference. I also like that he was able to qualify his results seems hard to believe though but if you consider some the MACNA video about turbo charging photosynthesis could be possible. Worth the 124$? Not for me, I have only one MP60 and a Tunze 6105 on my 180 and I feel like I get all the flow I need. His other point about a long pulse mode vs the standing wave theory could also have truth to it.
The WMX also will control Radions and Vectra as well, I think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I have it controlling 2 MP10s and 3 Radions one of which is on a frag tank that is over 40 feet away. I could not imagine going to reeflink or manually programming. Timing everything using the APEX is so much easier. Many folks including the Neptune guru RussM have uploaded profiles to APEX that can be applied taking the guesswork out. Used WXMs are easy to come by in here at great prices.

WXM does not control the Vectra pump. IMO for vortech pumps it's mainly about convenience. Reeflink is fine too, but futzing around with the three buttons on the vortech driver is madness inducing.

Why the heck would they not include that function? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Because they are two different companies with increasingly competitive products, thats why!

Sooo. I guess I'm getting the WXM module. I hate playing with the buttons on the MP40's too.
|
Well, I took the plunge on the WXM module. What are the odds that a 5ish year old MP40WES will have sufficiently updated firmware to allow automatic updates as opposed to the painful manual version?
|
I added some older (maybe not quite 5 years) MP40s to my WXM without major hair pulling.
|
I've had the Reef link and wxm. I prefer the wxm

I am using WXM with >5 year old MP40s. No issues [emoji106]

Mine should arrive today or tomorrow. I'll update when I see how they connect.

You'll have to use the 3 buttons to clear the pumps and hook them to the WXM, but then no more. Setting up pump profiles is quite easy and allows you to move through different modes as often as you like.

Is the wxm worth it for just a single radion xr30?

I recently got my first mp10, as part of a tank breakdown package. I had to buy a new controller for it. It worked really well, but was noisy. It put out enough flow that I decided to spend the money on a new MP40esw. Honestly, it doesn't flow near what a Jebao wp40 does. I have them both in the same tank and can tell a huge difference in the two. The jebao is easier to control also.
I'm now eyeballing a Neptune system. It would be my first, so I'm researching a bit to see what I want. |

I could not imagine running my tank without my Apex. I appreciate the simple interface that ETM provided with their MP system, but holy hell, trying to remember what sequence of what buttons with what colors to get which mode to do what on makes me cry. I really appreciate being able to pull up the Apex interface and control everything from one location, using the English language, and then automatically swap modes during the day, feed modes, etc. I'm sure the ETM reeflink interface is great, but having everything centrally located is really ideal. |
