Green algae looking stuff on my rock.

So I set the tank up about 5 days ago. Added the shrimp today. Thing is I noticed a brownish tinge tonone of my rocks with greenish spots growing on the rear of one of the other ones. The cycle has now fully started. I’m just trying to figure this all out since I’m new the hobby. Any advice or info?

Part of new tank process. Did you start with dry base rock?

No. I got two rocks with coralline already on it and then two plain white already seeded live rock.

I started with dry rock and seeded it with rock from my previous tank. The dry rock has always gotten the green algae the first month or so. I just put in 2 new dry krocks to my 4 year old tank in January and they also got the algae with no other rocks being effected. It has started to go away and Coraline taking hold.

Totally normal..
All new tanks typically go through a phase (ugly stages) of brown diatom growth, then green hair/film algae then even cyanobacteria..

It will typically pass after a few weeks or so provided you maintain the tank properly..

Ok so then with that said. I also am noticing that there is this white crusty looking stuff on my rocks. What might it be and it normal?

Probably old/dead coralline algae or sponge growth..
I'd bet its the first..
A pic would help and if you can't scrape it off easily its coralline..

Both are normal and harmless..

I would take a picture. But it’s with my phone and I’ve tried to upload from my phone but it won’t let me

Eh. Either way I’m just excited and happy that it’s cycling the right way
