How do i make my corals grow faster?

hello, i would like to now how fast, i make my corals to grow faster. And my anemones.

short answer, light, flow, minerls, nutrient level management.

Long answer: you are going to be more specific as to what you want to grow and what you are doing now

well, what i have now are 8 leather cabagge, 13 musgroom corals, 1 red bubble tip anemone, and 1 white sabae anemone. I have a power compact light 2 65 actinic, 2 65 10k. the water flow is nice not to strong and not to weak. every sunday and add vitamen c 1L, 1 cap full of a & b calcium, and 1 cap full of plankton (liquid). My cleanner shrimp molt once a week. and my engeneer goby is really big. i got him around 2" long and now he is 7" long

I read to mine before I put them to bed. It really helps speed up their development.

First off -- a white Sabae isn't a healthy one. Should be more cream/tan in color. Basically, white = bleached.

If this for your 90? If so you are on the lower end for lights.

What are your parameters - I wouldn't dose two part without testing for Cal and Alk first.

I second what has been posted already, especially reading to them, it really dose help.

First off, why are you dosing vitamin C? Second, once a week is not really doing much for you if its doing anything at all.

If you want to know about Vit. C read this article. It should answer some Vit. C questions for you

the level of the calcium is 400. yes is my 90 gallon tank. is actually not white. Also i do not understand what you mean by lower end for light.

65 watt x 4 on a 90 is too little light for the anemones. PC does not have good penetration and 90s are pretty deep. It is good lighting for softies but higher lighting (given proper acclimation) would probably help for the corals as well. WHat do you keep you dKH, nitrate and phosphate at?

reidcrandall 12/30/2008 02:01 PM

I would up the light to T5s. I think that the PCs are too low of output for really good growth.

Other than that, I think that stability is the most important. You need to have all of the params within the desirable range and then keep it as close to a constant value within the range as you can. There has been some debate in the past as to whether or not fluctuation can be good, and can condition your corals to be hardier, and I believe that there may be some merit to it, but if you're after growth, then you should keep the fluctuations as small as possible.

Feeding the anemones silversides will help them grow. But all of the above mentioned are more important.

Patience is key in this hobby.
