Fish that will eat Chaetomorpha Algae
I am looking for the best fish that will consume Chaetomorpha Algae. I've tried yellow and kole yellow eye tangs. They seem to have their own preferences of algae, but none will touch the Chaetomorpha Algae.

My yellow tang loves the stuff.
Emerald crabs and astrea snails will much on it. It shouldn't be too hard to remove manually though... |
My purple tang loves it.

From what I've read Chaeto is undigestable for tangs, and should be kept out of display for that reason. I have had a foxface and purple tang that would eat the little bits that got into my display from time to time. You could totally tell they couldn't digest it because it looked the same coming out as it did going in!

My foxface rabbit loves it. They're not considered reef safe so I pull the chaeto out of my reef and give it to him in my fish only tank.
|
I just noticed my Unicornfish eat it, but not sure if it will be digested.

I wouldn't feed it to your tangs either some bits would get in my display and my blue tang would eat it and then poop it out the same.

agreed, my foxface is a great reef fish.......never touches a thing, you must of got a weird one if it isn't reef safe

my foxface ate a huge 12-15" sized xenia colony but has not touched any other corals, although some have been said to eat zoas. They're as reef safe as tangs imo which are also known to pick at polyps from time to time.
