How fast do fish heal?

My S&S puffer accidently bit my Clown Trigger who now has a nice piece of flesh dangling from the side of his face. It's not too bad and the trigger really doesn't seem to care, but I was just wondering how long I should expect it to heal. I don't want to put anything in the tank. Anyone have any idea?

could take awhile, you dont want to put anything in there, but melafix is a great solution.

Yeah I know about melafix, but the stuff stinks. And it takes forever to get out of your system even with big water changes...

well thats true, but it does work well and keep fish healthy, just a thought to keep in the back of your mind.
