Anemone worries

So I got a BTA from divers den. It’s been in my tank for 5 days now. It shrivels up everyday and I have yet to see it leave its cave besides dusk/dawn when the lights are dimmer and also at night when the lights are completely out.

I’m assuming the BTA is just adjusting to the like. I run a kessil A160 tuna blue that reaches max 45-50% during midday. I also was under the assumption these guys like high lighting. Other BTA that I’ve had under this same light didn’t do this.

My main concern is that the BTA isn’t even peaking a few tentacles out to adjust to the light which makes me think another thing could be causing this. How long should it take for the BTA to adjust? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Carpet nems like haddoni, gig and mag like strong light. BTA doesn't like as much light. Regardless, you need to acclimate the nems to your lighting. I recommend reduce the light to 20%. Once it comes out, increase the intensity by maybe 2% at time every hour until it retract a bit. Hold it at the comfortable level for a day and then slowly ramp it up again the next day. It may take a week or 2 before you can go back to 45% level. It took me 2 weeks to acclimate my mag, and mag loves light.

When I first got him I did slowly ramp up the lights, but you’re absolutely right a few days of light acclimation probably wasn’t enough

you are probably using a very different lighting source from where it came from. My anemone never hid after I put them in my tank. Might because I have similar lighting setups. If it attaches well, No other signs of stress, I wouldn’t worry too much at this point. Just give it some time.

Just let him be, he will do the light adjustment for you.
Make sure your temp, salinity, nitrate and phosphate are stable and in the range.

Thank you everyone for the responses! He has created his own schedule, comes out during dawn goes into his cave. Comes or at dusk, stays out all night long. Everyday he creeps a little more and more. Can’t wait for him to be out big and happy :)
