Jellyfish??????
So I think I have some ‘baby’ (for lack of better term) jellyfish, I scooped them out of my 20 gallon reef tank when I saw them just kinda.... schmooping? around, and I’m wondering if for now I should get them in a round bowl and an air stone with a tiny bit of phytoplankton coral food stuff in the water until I can get to both of my lfs and ask them both what they think I should do, because I kinda actually wanna try to keep them
Sorry for the run on sentence I’m bad at wording |
How large are they? Is the tank newly set up with new LR?
They could be a reproductive phase of some other kind of hydroid, coral, or anemone. Or a stationary reproductive phase of an actual jellyfish could have come in on fresh LR. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
They’re about the size of a dot if you just press a crayon to a sheet of paper without moving it around, and the tank is fairly new, but all the live rock came from a couple bigger tanks that I had that were already established. I did recently get a new Christmas tree worm and a coral, but those oats the only new things in the tank. They’re pretty mobile and free floating most of the time, and they kinda flap around like jellyfish and have the little thing hanging down (because I don’t know actual terms and stuff) but idk I’m honestly hoping I can keep them alive until I can get to my lfs and ask them

Those are hydroids, i once had an outbreak of them years ago in the 90's when i set up a 20 gallon tank with "real live rock".

Should I do something to get rid of them, or should I just leave them be?
