Updated Polling for radion intensity
I would like to poll this to see what the majority of reef keepers with Radions keep there intensity like. Also can you give experiences of what made you either turn intensity up or down. In addition to that can you also post pictures of what made you go up or down for all the recognize how and what to look for when adjusting. Also please give a brief description of your tank..
Thanks everyone this should get interesting. I have mine set to 75% intensity my tank is 120 gallon cube all SPS light fixture 8" above water line. I am looking to drop it to between 70 and 60 % I think it's to powerful. |
I have a single gen 1 over my lps/sps 50 gallon tank set at 65% max., 9" from the water.
I also have 3 gen 1's over my 240 softy reef set at 65% max., 9" from the water |

|
the radiant color program.

I am very surprised by the polling, so I have lowered mine to 70% to see if my sps color up.

I am surprised as well. I wish the people who voted in the lower intensities would have stated what corals they keep. |
I currently am running mine at 55% with Radion pros 7" from water. Getting alot of growth and have only had them since April.

I run 2 Pro's over a Standard 90G tank with all SPS/LPS lights roughly 9" above the water line. i run my lights roughly at 70% I've noticed that if i go higher some of my Corals seem to start to bleach out, so I've stayed right around 70% and have pretty decent color.

Personally I keep LPS and softies in a 16 gallon nano on my desk, and run my intensity at 25%.

mfinn,
Not at all, with such a small aquarium 25% provides more then enough brightness. Also, my schedule runs from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM and peaks at 20K. |
Voted! :)

Seeing the results so far almost makes me want to try a intensity reduction experiment.
Atleast it's got me thinking. |
I had mine from day one at 100% then people kept asking why are your corLs so light I. Color. I always answered I guess it's because I am missing something and I dose vodka. So I lowered my intensity to 85% and I started dosing amino acids and my corals started getting better color so I thought it was that. But now after seeing the poll come in I will lower again to 70% for the next 30 days and see what happens. I truly believe I had been toasting my sps because I came from old school lighting of MH and VHO bulbs and thought LEDs were not as strong. I no I have a few variables but I have stopped dosing vodka yesterday and have lowered my intensity to 70% let's see what happens. If my corals continue to lighten then I will ramp up a little but after seeing most are at 50% I should be good at 70%

Still adjusting mine so too much and my SPS bleach and now too little and they're browning. :/

Also curious how long everyone is running their lights. What time do you start day and night. Not sure if I bleached some because intensity was too high or lights were on too long.
|
I have Radion Pro's 55% max intensity at 18K on peak
|
I have 99% SPS dominated tank few Acans and Zoa's 15" above the water line.
9am till 10:30pm. I'm big fan of less you mess with stuff better you do. |
