How much do you feed your shark?

How much food do you feed your shark per week? What kind of shark is it?

I am going to get a brown banded shark and house it for its lifetime. However, I am trying to figure out how much food per week it will eat on average. With that number I can finish designing my algae scrubber for my setup.

Thanks!

Well - the amount of food you feed per week will vary according to the size of the shark.

But generally speaking - for bamboo sharks - they should be feed about 2-3 times per week. The amount is generally about 3-5% of body weight for larger individuals. For pups - it may be higher.

We feed our 1.4 foot bamboo cat shark at the store 2-3 times per week. Generally about 3 pieces of IQF clam strips.

Pups need to eat almost daily, I target feed my adults every other day, but they will eat when doing daily feedings in the tanks. Also be aware of iodine needs in benthic sharks feeding on prepared foods to prevent goiters.

I fed my 3 STNs 0.6 pounds of yellow fin tonight. It was gone within 15s. They are between 20 and 22 inches each. They are fed 3 - 4 times a week.

i feed my dochi leopard shark that is 9 inches 1 strip of tuna or a shrimp every day. i feed my coral cat shark every 3 days and he is 20 inches.

I feed my banded 1 ft 3 inch cat 3-4 times a week and he gobbles it fast. My same size coral cat eats a couple pieces those same days then goes back to hide. Both seem to be very healthy and active.
