Rebirth - 1500l
Well.
It's time to start over. This build is a reconstruction of my previous system, Monolith, that crashed a few weeks ago due to a electric failure. :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown My first thought after that was to dismantle and sell out everything but passed a few days I just found that's not the way to go. So......here we are. The setup is basically the same, with a little less sand and rocks. This time I'll able to do what I wanna do on Monolith, but didn't due to the fact that Monolith was an upgrade project. This is a fresh start, so I can plan it more carefully. The new layout: Right View https://c4.staticflickr.com/9/8487/2...b2ac338ebd.jpg Front View https://c7.staticflickr.com/9/8305/2...731f9bcb8b.jpg Big Island https://c5.staticflickr.com/9/8116/2...038375b490.jpg Small Island https://c8.staticflickr.com/9/8498/2...f1edbe55e9.jpg Some setup info: Dimensions: 1,8 x 1,5 x 0,70 (meters). I hope that this journey can be a little more..........peaceful |

Careful, my six line waited a year in perfect harmony with my mandarin, then almost killed it three times before I had the pleasure of catching him.
|
Good to know.
Six line is still a doubt in the list. I've had one once.....and it pulled out an eye from my female ocelaris...I didn't see it doing it, but always there was some tension between them....so, one day....one eye only. Mine used to harass my fridmanii as well. Melanurus is an option to replace...mine was peaceful. Has the almost the same color pattern and behaviour.... Let's see. |
Looking forward to this new build, Alex.
I absolutely love your rockwork. I have never seen a sixline wrasse I liked. I have always known them to be the smallest and meanest fish in the ocean. I would never add another to my tank or any tank I ever cared for. |

Hi Matt, It's the pretty awesome good looking balanced fluid layout that I ever made...lol...:dance::dance: Seriously.....I'm very satisfied with it... And I can imagine it within 2 years, with corals....It'll be sweet..... About the six line......I like the color and I like the hunting fish style.... But I can replace it for a melanurus....In fact, I'll do it. Plus, I can add a yellow coris....the biggest hunter that I've ever had...(the biggest jumper too....:thumbdown) I'm done with evil fish. In my last reef, my Powder Blue, after 3 or 4 years became the biggest bully fish in the world......and I hated it.... The Clown tang will be the only tank because of that....and if it get annoying, it'll go out faster than it went in... https://c6.staticflickr.com/9/8022/2...dd7f3890af.jpg Regards. Alex |
Hi Alex
I'm hope a lot to things stay peaceful from now on, I followed your system from the design, transfer and "the end". It was a terrible experience for any hobbyist, I'm glad to see that you didn't give up. For the fish stock I would consider a pair of bangai cardinal and a Longnose hawkfish. |
Good choice. I love melanarus wrasses. That's what drew me to them - their "always on the hunt" mentality.
Awesome tank! |
LOVE my melaranus. My six line never came close to as cool as the melaranus is. Way better looking IMO to boot.

Can't wait to see you back to glory Alex :) It really was a tragedy amount Monolith :( The scape and fish list already looks amazing and I can't wait to watch it grow mate! :D

About the bangai, I've tried it twice...in both they died after a few months. The flame hawk is an interesting fish....but it don't swim....I decided put only swimmers this time... Quote:

Unfortunately we both know that will take 1 or 2 years for the tank looks like a reef again.... Be patience is the only thing that I can do right now. Regards to all Alex |
After 1 week....RO filled.....

Subscribed. The dimensions of your tank is very impressive.
I hope everything goes well. A large shoal of Resplendid anthias would be a nice addition in addition to chromis. Cheers |
Beautiful aquascape! Definitely looking forward to following along

Gorgeous rockwork!

First, sorry for your loss due to the power cut.
Second, this reboot is going to be amazing! Rock work looks very nice, love the dimensions of the tank, equipment is great and stocking list looks gorgeous! Definitely following this build with much interest :) |

The only problem is that a tank like this needs a room for it. About the anthias, I realy love them, but they're very.....very....very expensive here in Brazil....a shoal is off the limits....plus, I've tried 3 squamipinnis in my 750l tank...1 died a month later....1 died 6 months....the last one only last a year.....:sad2: They're no Heckels but look at your nickname make me think you'll like this: https://c6.staticflickr.com/8/7545/2...89ff503b_n.jpg Quote:

Alex, when do add salt?
When do we get this show on the road?!? |
Quote:
Right now I'm running GAC to remove any trace of chlorine that I used to wash the rocks and sand and GFO to reduce silicate/phosphate from rocks/sand/RO-DI water. This Wednesday is holiday here and I must add the salt. HW professional....this is the salt which I had the best results in my past reefs. I'll add Biodigest as a bacterial source to accelerate the cycling of the tank. 2 weeks from Wednesday I must try some frag...to see the response. Right now, be patience is the hardest part....:headwallblue::headwallblue::headwallblue: Regards, Alex |
Salt: check.
CUC: check. Macroalgae: check. That's it for now. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8507/2...050a9e0d0f.jpg Alex |
I agree that your hardscape looks great! Macroalgae, for a refugium or the display?
Your TOTM was one of my favorites so I'm excited to see the new one get started! |
Awesome aquascape, amazing dimensions...cant wait to see it filled with life alex:thumbsup:
