I just inherited a toad stool---care information
I just inherited a toad stool (about 3" round). Can anyone supply any care information? Much appreciated

I believe you have this in the wrong forum, unless I'm thinking of the wrong coral. A toad stool is a soft coral, not a LPS. And for their care: I never owned on, but i belive they're similar to the leathers I've had over the years. Easy and not light demanding. A little noxious so fish tend to leave them alone. Can get fairly large, but look pretty cool as a center piece.

Sorry for the mis classification
I apoligize--- I get softies and leathers mixed up with LPS

Love light and random medium flow. Like iodide maintained in the 0.03-0.06 range. Sometimes take a month or two to fully extend. |
Thank you Uncle 99--- sounds easy enough. Mines in full extension after first week in the tank

Can grow to be one of the biggest corals in the tank, may shade others. |
Then the toad stool may not be in my tank over a year
I really like the toad stool, but if it outgrows my 24g, I'll have to offer it up to a fellow reefer

True---fragging a definate possibility
Fragging a possibility with the Toad Stool---since i just setup a 20g frag tank. My first resident is a Sinularia that i'm currently dividing up. The Sinularia started as a huge mother coral---then seperated to 4 different corals and 10 2" frags so far. I heard stories how if Sinularias are over fragged, that they can quickly toxify the entire tank---so i didnt start fragging it until i set up a seperate tank. I never frag more than 20% of the coral at one time---most times i dont even reach half that---dont wanna overstress the corals.
