Looking for an ID on this algae

I just found this small colony of what appears to be some sort of micro algae. The space in the photo is literally less than a dime size. It's like each node has its own polyp.... I hope it's safe cause honestly it's kinda cool to watch.

I believe they are tiny feather dusters, a filter feeder that is good for your tank 98% of the time. Most of my LR is supported above the sand and lots of these grow in the shade because there is some good flow under the rocks above the sand.

However, a friend of mine has bigger ones, maybe a bit smaller than a dime and they have spread around his tank. It wasn't an issue until some started to grow in zoa colonies and they have annoyed the zoas to the point of not opening! But they are fairly easy to pluck out by hand.
