Best lighting for bubble tip anemones?
Due to heat issues from using metal halides I have been trying other forms of lighting for my bubble tip anemones but can't seem to find one that they either seem to like or get as good of coloration out of. Anyone have any good results using T5's or LED's ?

Thanks Chris, your anemone looks good...maybe I've just been running my led(Kessil 360) too strong.
|
I would like to also use T5's but the anemones can't seem to handle the light and usually end up hiding under a rock.

I run a Current Orbit LED 100% blue, 50% white, and my BTA has been fine for the two years I've had it. Granted, my tank is very shallow (12").
Good luck. |
I use ai hydra52 on my biocube29 for my btas, for my 110g i am using 320watt maxspect razor..

currently using a Hydra 52 HD+ on a Red Sea Reefer 170. The two BTA's I've had colored up quite a bit since I got them.

I use a radion gen 3 pro running at 45%.Have 9 rbtas in a 28 jbj.

Here's my PAR numbers. The H. Mag is getting blasted with 405 PAR. The two BTA's are both crammed in the same spot, so I'm guessing they love the light and flow right in that crevice.
Again, this is with the AI Hydra 52 HD, running the SPS AB+ w/ high peaks. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4553/...26c422c6_b.jpg |
I am using a black box led light on my 45g. I have a two rbta’s that I just got less than a week ago from aznflyfisherman (beautiful specimens healthy and nice color) One has acclimated very well to the light but the other one is hiding. Before introducing the anemones I was running 90% blues and 45% whites. Now I am down to 50% blues and 15% whites trying to bring the anemone that is hiding out.
|
After two weeks both Bta’s are settled. I am planning on increasing the lights little by little.

Im have the same problem, this is my first week with my bta but all he do is hid. All my water parameters are great and I have great lighting. I do have a tomato clown who love him and host to him within one day. But now my tomato clown don't let anyone come close to it. Would they find a place to be out in the open or just stay in a cave?

It will come out when it’s ready assuming it is not sick. As for where it will permanently go will depend on your tank. Can’t really predict that unless it’s on a rock in the middle of nowhere.
Watch your clown as it could love it too much and cause the anemone to stress and deteriorate. Tomato’s are rough if they are large and mature. |

Most of the LFS's I've been to keep their anemones in the dark and don't feed them. You'll have to acclimate them slowly to the light. And feed them.
|
You know what you are right, they are in dark blue lighting.
How often should you feed them? I have frozen mysis shrimp. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk |
My CC inferno's been doing well under Reefbreeders LED.
(not sure how to attach photo) |

I would find a different LFS that cares for the animals they are selling. |
