And now, part 2...

Picked up part 2 at about 11pm and spent the evening acclimating and aquascaping...until about a quarter to 5am... :D. I'm still recovering, but it was worth it.

People constantly rave about Richard's generosity and I was expecting a really nice assortment of things, but I was completely unprepared for what he sent- it blew me away. He even sent two really neat fish (a tiger goby I believe, and some type of cool blennie), but they have so far been a little camera shy.

Richard- thank you for the incredible work and generosity which you have shown- I will be enjoying this for years to come and will definitely be in touch when I set up future tanks.

And now without further adieu... the pictures:

The front of the tank:

A really interesting red sponge:

An orange fan-like sponge:

A star coral colony:

A neat little cup coral:

And finally, a beautiful corralimorph, tinged light pink and green (unfortunately, the pic does it no justice). I've never seen one like this before- any one know the species?

Excellent!

Most excellent job!

I think the most amazing thing is you pulled this off with an eight gallon tank.......not an easy thing to do with such a small tank...you will be a poster boy for nano tanks on my website!!

Gorgeous!:eek1:

your tank looks awesome! you did a great job arranging everything and looks like that was quite a chore with everything that richard sent you. i cant believe that is all in a 8 gallon tank, okay gonna have to get me a nano now..i am thinking about buying a 28 gallon one and of course will be stocking it with some more tbs. hopefully if i am a good little girl santa would give me all kind of goodies like you got.

Elorian 10/18/2007 09:29 AM

Thanks! I had a lot of fun arranging everything, but much of the credit goes to Richard for the incredible variety that he sent. I actually had to acclimate about a third of the critters in a 5 gallon bucket as the tank wouldn't hold all of the bags :)!

bues0022 10/18/2007 12:01 PM

Though my setup will be quite a bit larger than that (~60 gallons) That's exactly what I'm hoping my tank looks like after order.....(waiting is so hard!)

KUDA 10/18/2007 03:02 PM

Do you know what the name of that purple sea fan is?

Elorian 10/18/2007 07:47 PM

I believe its a purple whip gorgonian (don't know the latin binomial off the top of my head). After searching through my reference books and online I can't seem to pin it down- maybe Richard can shed some light on it?

Origami2547 10/20/2007 01:02 PM

Coooooool! And in only 8 gallons! Excellent job you've done there.

Eldouble 11/27/2007 08:40 PM

Im jealous... I got some nice stuff on my rocks, but nothing close to that!! Looks great.

james3370 09/21/2008 10:34 AM

came to this thread from the comments page on richard's page....from the pics, all i can say is WOW!!!!

you really make me hate my biocube 8 now LOL

this tank is the motivation/inspiration for me saving so i can get everything from richard when i finally do my bigger (60-90) tank in the next few months
