Can I overfeed a Scoly?
I lost a Scoly 6 months ago which I did not feed well while away on business.
I got a new one and I am so worried about loosing it again that I keep feeding it a lot. It keeps taking food several times per day. It just won't stop eating. Can I overfeed it? |
I'm not sure if you can overfeed the coral, although I have seen corals eat things only to puke it up later on, but assuming your parameters are within reason and the lighting is sufficient one meal every 2 weeks or so should be fine. There's really no need to feed it that much IMO. GL.

I would think your parameters are off rather than it not getting a meal. In my last tank I had scolys and never fed any of them on a regular basis but they still grew. What is your alk, ca, and mag?

My parameters for this "attempt" are as follows: alk .... 8.6 ca .... 440 mg .... 1350 Ph .... 7.8 - 8.1 NO3 .... 0.02 PO4 .... 0.028 Salinity .... 31 (low - plan to raise it to 35 over five weeks) |
Just out of curiosity when you lost that Scolymia did you have any other corals in the tank? If so, did you have any problems with them?
