Baby Humu in a 40gal

I know I know. He can’t stay in there forever. I have a 40g that is pretty basic. I want to get a Humu that is around 1”. How long could he realistically live in a 40 before I need to upgrade? It would just be him in there with maybe a wrasse or two.

Less than a year. If you notice his growth slowing/stopping, that means it’s time to get him into something bigger.

That should give me the time plan and save for the 180 I hope to have.

I would just skip it, you can keep plenty of other fish in a tank that size. This is like buying a puppy in an apt with hopes of buying a house. Dont let the animal suffer, take your time and plan. Get the equipment first, then stock. Not the other way.

It would work great as a qt for when you have a much bigger tank suited for a trigger.
