Harlequin Tusk Hiding

I just transferred my HT from QT to my 120 G DT. Today is the second Day he is hiding. No one is bullying him. I chased him out of his hiding place but he just finds another. He didn't eat today. How long will this continue?

Aussey or Indo ? What was he eating in QT?

OrionN 08/12/2018 12:57 PM

I would not "...chased him out of his hiding place..." They come out when they are comfortable. Chasing him out just cause him to hide even more.
He is in your DT already, make the best of it by leave him a lone. I would drop fresh fish where he is hiding and that is all I would do to disturb him.

Something is wrong. They are bold fish and should not be in hiding. How long did you have him in QT? What did he eat there?

Dear Orion I had him in quarantine 60 days he ate mostly Krill, Shrimp, Lobster, scallops. This is his second day in Display tank.

Leave him be. Drop his food one at a time near him and he should eat it even in hiding if he is not sick and hungry.

I dropped food by his cave he stuck his head out and ate it. He is coming out for a short time before lights go out. Thanks for the advice

Great. They are beautiful fish. When you add bite size fish or shrimp, wait until he goes to bed. They retire early. If you don’t you just feed him very expensive food. Keep him well fed and he won’t eat his tankmates but he just cannot resist disoriented fish and shrimp
