Toadstool vs. Anthelia
I need to move my green tentacle toadstool leather up higher in my 29 since it appears to be stretching it's "neck" towards the light. The place I want to move it to is next to a patch of pink anthelia I am constantly pruning back (cannot remove the rock, it's all zip-tied together and I don't mind a little anthelia there.) My question is; will the toadstool help keep the anthelia in check at all or will the anthelia sting the toadstool? I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this before I epoxy my favorite toadstool...
Thanks! |
My anthelia doesn't bother my toadstools and I've had it like that for a couple of years. I really like the way they grow around the base.

I've had GSP grow up the stalk of a toadstool before without any problems.

Mushrooms, yes...Toadstools, not so much. My toadstools are typically happiest (if polyp extension = happiness), in somewhat lower light. Frequently, placing leathers in very high light results in their NEVER coming out. I have a star sinularia that I can't extricate from around a hydnophora. So, to the top they went. The sinularia has not "come out" in 6 months. He/she does fine, but NEVER, and I mean NEVER, comes out. (No, it's not the hydnophora that is causing the retraction. There is a similar arrangement, with the same two critters, at a lower spot in the tank...sinularia = out much of the time). So, please be careful when/if you move the guy/gal into higher lighting. I might even rethink moving it. The "reaching for the light" may not be what it appears. Also, keep in mind that leathers REALLY don't like being moved around. |
