I set up a nano tank just for zoes. Because of my love for big angels I can't keep zoes in my big tank.. Went to the swap, bought $200 dollars Worth of the must amazing zoes. Decided last night my nano needs more flow. So I added one of my Rio 1200's. This was the newest one I have. You can tell by the picture there's no Coraline algae covering it. Came home tonight after work. Noticed the tank was cloudy. All the zoes are closed up. Then noticed a lot of dead brittle worms and star fish laying in the bottom. I looked at my temp gage, 78 thats good. I'm just looking over the tank trying to figure out what is going on and I hear a very faint buzz noise. My daughter looks at me and says what are you doing? I told her I hear a buzz noise. She says, dad thats coming from that thing over there that has bubbles coming out the top. Well it wasn't bubbles it was smoke.

Well tonight all the zoes are still closed. But I don't see any of them melting down. Last night I put a big canister of carbon on the tank. The tank water still has a white color to it. I'm wondering if the voltage killed all the criders in the tank, did it also kill all the bactirea. I'm also thinking tonight I should try putting a couple of the zoe back in my main tank to see if they come back.

More than likely copper was released into the tank from the bare electrified wire. If you haven't done a big water change yet I'd do one as soon as you can, and replace the carbon every few days until things start looking better.

Maybe try this? It's supposed to absorb Copper and other heavy metals. I actually still have a 100g bag in my canister, I completely forgot about it until saw this thread.
