Emperor shrimp
Sorry for opening a new thread but I am very happy with my latest acquisitions and just wanted to show them (off). :o

Wow, I've never seen them before. You are lucky to have them....beautiful.

WHOOOAAAAA. when i first saw the pic, i thought the shrimps were DRAWN IN. so cool.
anyone have any information on them? how much were they? are they a pair? |
You need to get them a cucumber to live with. It will greatly increase their comfort and odds at surviving.
|
I also thought that they only lived in symbiosis with echinoderms but after some research I found out that it is not symbiosis but commensalism (hopefully I wrote that correctly).
I see them taking dry, live and frozen food so I am hoping for the best. Although they were sold to me as a pair I must say that they do not spend much time sitting together. But as long as they do not act agressively towards each other I am fine with that. |
Commensalism is a type of symbiosis. So they are symbiotic with a echinoderm.
|
How are your emperor shrimp doing, MVP? Did you ever get them a commensal?
|
They will host nudibranch and cucumbers actually. I'm pretty sure a lettuce sea slug would be perfectly fine and the safest route to attempt (despite not being a true nudi).
