Transporting O. Scyllarus

So I've read the how to ship thread and now have a question.

I will be picking up my O. Scyllarus around the end of this month.

The LFS is about 3.5 hours away from me.

What is the best way to transport the mantis? It is about 5"

5g bucket with an air stone?

Only 3.5 hours? Get it in a big bag if possible, and put that bag in a styrofoam box. Should be alright I think.

Yeah this is how my larger spearers came

BIG styrofoam box with a BIG plastic bag lining it, then the mantis was in a few more BIG bags).

I'll see if I can have them put it in a big bag and then that bag inside multiple others. I'll then put that in a styrofoam box with a lid and secure the lid on there.

Sound like a plan?

My concern is the mantis breaking the bag and being out of water.

Put water in both the styrofoam box and the bag(s) holding the mantis

I don't understand the issue lol...toss the bugger in a 5g bucket and call it good! Don't even need an airstone...you driving and sloshing the water around will aerate the water just fine ;)

There is an issue, particularly when using a bucket. The animal has nothing to hold on to and can bet pretty beaten up with all the sloshing. I like to give them some thing to hold on to, either putting them inside a holy plastic bottle or in a bag with some pieces of large plastic mesh.
