Chris' 34 gallon Red Sea Max

I downgraded my 90 gallon to this all in one, now that i have a $40k car lol i cant keep the 90 gallon.

Finally got the thread up....

I had to drive to a shopping center to pick-up the rsm and all because Fed-X is not allowed on my street (48' tractor trailor.)
http://www.justuploadit.com/files/1/...x/000_0001.jpg

Took about an hour and a 1/2 to setup the stand, not much help with setting it up directions were a little misunderstanding for me but i got it.
http://www.justuploadit.com/files/1/...x/000_0002.jpg

Put the tank on the stand.

Took the wrapping and all off, looks nice!

Got everything setup in the tank. Testing the lighting.

More pics:

I did a leak test (filled it up with water) no leaks so i added the sand that came with the starter kit, and saltwater.

Pic with the rocks in there (i let them dry out i had a problem with those tube snails with the web in my 90 gallon.)

Pic with the lights on.
http://www.justuploadit.com/files/1/...x/000_0024.jpg

View of the rocks up close, I'm thinking of adding another peace to the right, or maybe making a zoa area (let them go wild over the sand if possible.... maybe something else.

Now i have to let it cycle, than ill move everything from my temp 20 gallon long to the new setup & if you are wondering why my tunze nano is sitting on the sand is because my clip broke, i ordered a replacement from marine depot, $8 no worries lol, i wonder if i can use it full blast or ill set it half way... And i did clean the glass after i took the pics because i spilled some saltwater down it lol.

More info will be posted as i progress and add the livestock to the new tank.

Sweet, man. Congrats on both!

I've been eyeing the RSM 34 as a possible office tank if I get this new job I'm after. We'll see. :)

I love it, the skimmer seems to work better than i have thought it would, but um, i had thoughts of getting another and moving my freshwater setup into it (looks a hell of a lot better than my bow front) lol... crazy bet ur a** i am lol.

Justinandkrista 05/31/2008 03:57 PM

Sweet band new. I think i would of gone with the new challenger for 70 tho. Or maybe an older challenger. lol now im dreaming. Post some more pic of the tank tho

Nano Chris 06/02/2008 12:13 AM

I will, just busy cleaning the car, or rather say trying to keep it clean, man black gets dirty fast... Just waiting on the tank to finnish cycling so i can start moving the stuff over to the new tank, i have like 2 corals now, i got rid of the rest, i have a few zoas a coco worm, 2 clownfish, royal gamma, mandarin. Thats about it.

Nano Chris 06/18/2008 11:22 AM

Since my last post, the tank has cycled and i added my fish/shrimp and the zoas i have.

I'm trying to sell my 90 gallon setup to make money to buy some corals for it:

Ill post some new pics later today.

snake plissken 06/18/2008 02:19 PM

any skimmate in the skimmer yet? you probably did not have anything to skim at first.

most folks advise not to skim during the cycle...i guess the whole idea is to produce as much gunk in the tank as possibel so that the good bacteria will appear and start breaking down amonia and nitrites
if you skim as you are trying to cycle you probably just make the cycle last longer

i am still running the stock skimmer in my RSM with mixed results

Nano Chris 06/18/2008 04:26 PM

Mine seems to work pretty good, i don't have that much of a bio-load yet, i hope to start getting some corals in the tank soon.:D

Nano Chris 07/05/2008 06:26 PM

Well i have a small algae problem, got to test the levels tomorrow, as i have to get some sleep. Doing research on what corals i want, trying to sell the rest of my aquariums, so i can have money to buy them with. :D

Nano Chris 07/14/2008 09:16 AM

I got about $300 for stocking my tank, after i sell the rest of my stuff ill add some more, and ill be set on supply's lol.

I want to let it mature more before ordering taking it slow.

Nano Chris 07/17/2008 09:12 AM

Just placed an order at ReefHotSpot for $300, can't wait to get the order. Ill be posting pics soon.

Nano Chris 07/28/2008 12:03 PM

I decided to get this instead because it has a little bit of everything to start my tank off:

those little mini colony rocks can be cool. I got one for my 65g a year or so ago and broke off the individual pieces, now they are colonies everywhere, and I have fragged and traded those. I liked my experience with it and hope you like yours as well.

Tanks looks good.

StevieTdrill 07/28/2008 03:05 PM

very nice

VCReefer26 07/28/2008 03:33 PM

i have a red sea also...its by far the simplest tank i have! and everything does great!

Nano Chris 07/29/2008 06:38 AM

My peace-of-reef should be arriving by 10:30 am, lets hope so lol, i want it asap.

Tangwich 07/29/2008 08:02 AM

Very nice Chris, everything is coming along...love those multi coral pieces. Keep us updated..pics, we need more pics..lol..

Ricke 07/29/2008 11:34 AM

very Nice tank, can you take a picture of the whole tank as it looks like today :)

Nano Chris 07/30/2008 02:12 PM

Heres the new pics, i got 2 hitchhikers on the piece of reef, 2 hermits one regleged and one blue legged (about an inch) pretty cool, I waited to today when the lights come on, they opened up good i think. I'm going to get several more of these pieces off reef, i think they are a better deal. I hope to get some more money so i can buy more soon after i sell the rest of my tanks and stuff.

Looking good , I like your royal gramma, it´s one of my favorite fish.

Im waiting with excitement for your soft coral in the middle to expand :)

StevieTdrill 07/31/2008 08:00 AM

very cool! I would look into hiding the cord for the powerhead. Run it straight back, then into the compartments or cord track. Hopefully they gave you enough length to do so, otherwise look into getting an extension
