Fonda, where do you keep your Rouge? I have mine in medium light and it hasn't done much yet. I was told it was a low to medium light coral but have also read it prefers high light as well. Mine is still a small frag, but I'm not seeing any of the pink yet, it's a solid neon yellow/green so far.

Josh, Mine did the same when I got it from Todd. It is the slowest growing milli I have ever seen :( Once mine settled in, it took close to 6 months get nice and pink instead of the green.

I'm keeping mine on the top. It's under a 400 20K. And it's in a lot of flow. It seems to love it. Mine is so bushy it almost looks like the christmas mirabilis.

Marks right it is a slow grower for a millie.

myzislow 10/30/2009 11:48 AM

Thanks guys, good to know. I'm looking forward to this coral taking off for me, even if it takes awhile:cool:

Fonda, add a pygmy or two and you won't have that problem anymore

mpoletti 10/30/2009 12:11 PM

Not really a colony, but a shot from last year

Rouge Milli

I just got frag last weekend from Hector. Even though its small, its still nicely colored.

mpoletti 10/31/2009 11:48 AM

Brian, do not be surprised if it "greens" out a bit. I've noticed that it usually looks great right after fragging and then a couple weeks later it gets a green tint to it. Mine did the same thing when I got mine from Todd a few years back. If you see it at a show, its usually a fresher cut for this reason.

Bdimas 10/31/2009 11:55 AM

Ah. Thanks Mark. I'll keep my finger crossed, but if it does green out i wont panic. :D

sdietz2469 10/31/2009 07:32 PM

thanks for the pics, keep them coming... Any more pics of the rouge? Mark, i remember seeing a nice pic you had on another thread, or atleast i think that was you...

oh well, keep the pics coming, I ove the efflo and the rouge milli so much...

I got an efflo frag 1.5 yrs ago from a friend who broke down his tank. It was completely bleached and in really poor shape. It still looks like crap...no growth and no color...may break it up and see if that'll jump start it...

The $500 efflo is one of the most challenging corals I own. I have had it 10 months and it has about doubled in size. It appears reasonably hardy in that it hasn't died. I lost some frags due to alk swings after I let my calc reactor run out of CO2 and I didn't notice it for days. My efflo didn't seem to notice but it still hasn't colored up although I can see signs of slow improvement.

I got it from Atlantis in Jan of 09 and it looked like this:

As of today it looks like this:

It is about two inches across amd 1 inch high. I have run ultra-low nutrients (Zeo) and also stopped Zeo for awhile. I didn't notice much change. I have T5 + MH. For 8 months or so I ran 250W 14K phoenix and a couple months ago upgraded to 400W 20K radium. I started dosing amino's with no apparent change. From other comments, it sounds like maybe it just takes time as well as size to color up. If anyone has ideas on how to get better color, I'd love to hear them.

Hi mine started to color up around 3 to 4in ,at 5 to 6in it gets the darker purp and blue the color under the right water cond, one of my friends was trying to get his $500 efflo to color up and to me the color just did not look right and I told him to get a turkey baster and blast off his corals and there were some afew on the efflo and his tri color and 2 other sps but most were on the efflo ,the pic you posted looks like there are bite marks on the bottom of yours but I could be wrong but give the turkey baster a try if there are any keep blasting every 3 days for 3 to 4 weeks now my friend is afew free and everything is coloring back up .

mark728 11/01/2009 12:16 PM

Here is your pic look at the spots with the arrows pointing at looks like aefw and bite mark's , your efflo looks just like my friends did ,just my 2 cents but I hope I helped you .

Rouge Mille under 10,000k MH. It's under 20,000k light now and is not as impressive.

This picture was taken under intense light (400w MH), the polyps became green under low/moderate T-5 light.

I blasted the coral and didn't see anything, then I took some more macro pics with a flash and looked closely but couldn't find any bite marks or eggs. I don't think I have AEFW (I hope not).

I don't see evidence of bite marks in the photo I posted. Can you tell me where to look and I can take some clearer closeup pics to be sure.
