DIY hang-in Refugium for Biocube 29

Hello all,
I was thinkin of building a hang-in style refugium to grow some chaeto algae and to use as an introductory spot for new specimen. I am thinking of using a mini clear shower basket and just putting the chaeto in it with some live sand and have the basket in a good flow area. The lighting would just come from the stock lighting I have in my hood. Any thoughts on this? I guess I could also just take my bio balls out and put a basket small enough for chaeto in the middle sump area with a light on it too I guess. I would like to just do the hang-in type due to how simple it is to set up. I also welcome anyone's experience in making a successful in-tank refugium. Thanks!

People have had just turning the middle chamber to hold macroalgae and having a light. Search for that. And its an inexpensive thing to do

Thanks, I have been looking that kind of stuff up but all I have been finding is seperate sumps/refugiums altogether. I know that mediabaskets.com sells the mod stuff but was looking to not spend that much on it. I would like to keep my wet/dry setup going and just add the refugium to the tank.

Very cool! That's exactly what I want to do! Is it necessary to put live sand in a pouch with the chaeto or is it fine all by itself in the soap dishes? I've read where people put live rock rubble or sand in with their chaeto. I have ample live rock in the water column but this is very cool. Do you have any experience with this or no? If so, how did work out with the nitrates and phosphates? Thanks for your help!

Your method is certainly an option. IMO, it looks terrible (no offense), but if you are ok with how it looks (this is all that matters) then go for it. I would rather make the center chamber a fuge myself. Most day I find myself wishing the biocube just have a built in overflow and came with an inexpensive (10g) sump. It would be oh so much easier to work with.
