Hello, just joined the forum. Been in the hobby since the 80's.
I've been running this tank for about 5 months now. Stats: Biocube 32 LED Upgraded to Steve's LEDs Bluefish mini controller Apex Jr In Tank media basket and fuge basket Tunze Osmolator Nano Reef Creators 5 gallon ATO contaner blk Cobalt aquatics 150 neo-therm heater No Chemical filtration; just filter floss, Pond Matrix, and refugium |
Welcome to ReefCentral and the BC 32 club! Your tank looks great. I really like the large ricordia (?) on the sand bed in the middle of your tank. I also like the different levels you have achieved with your rockwork. I'll follow along.

Thanks for the compliments! That giant mushroom is actually a green frilly mushroom. I just call it "the big a$$ shroom".

how are you liking the bluefish mini?

This was month one and two of the biocube 32 LED. All stock at this point. I picked up an elegance coral, but it was gone by month two. Pretty much the only loss I had over the first 5 months. The little baby clown trigger turned out to be a bad idea. He was great until my torch caught some mysis shrimp, then there were tentacle pieces floating all over the place.

One touch photo mode (turns down blues and ups the whites) for taking a quick picture or video is nice. Plus it will switch back to normal after 10 minutes in case you forget. The thunderstorm feature is cool for the kids (especially with a bluetooth speaker), but not something I use much at all. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/pi...ictureid=78785 Getting it set up was easy also. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/pi...ictureid=78787 http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/pi...ictureid=78786 http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/pi...ictureid=78784 All that said, if the apex wasn't so godawful to do ANYTHING with I'd probably just rather use it instead. |
love it!

A little bit better shot of my reef only days before I hit the six month mark! Unfortunately my Yellow Fiji is shedding at the moment

My teal candy canes are splitting again. The one you can see in the front and the one on the bottom right is doing the same. They elongate, make a second mouth, and then start pinching in the middle

Top left: white pipe organ. All the shorties at the bottom are newer growth. Just to the right of the pipe organs is a Hot Pink and yellow Flower Pot. As small as it is, it was the most expensive coral I have ever bought Top right: Dancans. You can only see one head, but it already has at least seven! You can just barely make out to the bottom left of it a Honeycomb Leptastria. Middle: large Pink Torch. This one is just returning to full glory after a Kalk mishap. As you can see, the head on the bottom right has not recovered. The Fire Fish Goby was my very first fish. Bottom Left: green disco and what's left of a red monti cap that did not survive the kalk issue. |

Middle: Big *** Palys. I love them; so big, so green. Middle Left: An Orange Ricordia and a blue one. Bottom Left: Dragon Heart Favia or something like that Middle Right: Bleeding Apple Favia. Not growing fast but definitely growing. You can see it spilling onto the sand |
Even though I don't really feed my corals, the Acans have several baby heads on the sides all the time. I actually moved them onto a different rock today.

Very nice tank!

That looks really good and the coraline is extensive. Good job on mixing the corals and getting the look so natural.
