Conch & Feather Duster
Will a strawberry fighting conch eat a feather duster? Has anyone observed this? I haven’t read anything like that but I want to be sure.
I ask because I just got a feather duster today, and the conch has been sitting on its base for some time now, like 20 minutes. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The conch was just sitting on it, and then moved on. Then it went back again and did the same thing. When I looked at the feather duster this morning, there doesn't seem to be any damage. Maybe the conch was just checking it out?

I have conchs as well, and they do that to anything new that is close enough to the sandbed for them to reach.
Clams, dusters, corals, live rock... my best guess is they're grazing off any algae that came in on the new items. They're very methodical about checking every surface and can spend hours in one spot, just barely moving their proboscis to graze. |
My conch crawls over everything he can. He seems particularly entranced by my brain coral. The coral is not as thrilled.
