Caulerpa growing great then poof
I was growing some caulerpa in my Picotope to help deal with some turf algae problems. It was growing well (quickly) then the other day the stolons er rhizomes started looking bleached and then the leafs too, then it essentially disintegrated.
Thoughts? Everything else looks like it normally does, is this a sign of something bad? I don't really feed the tank...so the turf algae must not require much nutrients (it is much less prominent btw). Thanks |
listen for the answer too..

Sorry, hard typing lying on stomach with bad back LOL
Yes, I lost a 38 gallon tank to that when I was out of town one weekend so I couldn't take preventative measures. It released spores and all nutrients back into the tank. When you see it turning, pull all the lighter stuff off & keep it trimmed back as maintenance. |
Also a good practice is too cut the runner every so often too so you dont lose the whole thing. Essentally making many plants.
Good luck |
Good to know... Not what I was expecting "going sexual " to be.
I guess I am in the clear since it has been a week or so... Nutrient dump disaster avoided... Thank you live rock and sand, I guess. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |
