Silicone grease
Hello,
I used some Silicone Grease below to grease my o-rings on my unions, its the product below, as far as I can see its non-toxic, is it safe to use? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverhook-...ilicone+grease Thanks |
If you read the description on Amazon:
This product is listed by the United Kingdom water fittings byelaws Scheme under approval No.1077514 as being WRC approved for use with cold and hot water up to 85°C as a pipe joint lubricant. And: It is tasteless, odorless and non-toxic product. Plus the small amount you would use lube the O-rings, and the fact that the entire O-ring isn't in contact with the water, I wouldn't worry. |
Use first... ask later..
Not a smart technique to use in life.. But yes silicone grease should be just fine.. |
While I think it would be fine, I would find one rated as food safe.

Well if it is safe in the UK, then it is definitely safe in our low standards USA

^^^This made me LOL!!!^^^ And yes, you are fine using that product. |
Yum. Been drinking the goop for years on my home system filters. Not dead yet. You should use it on your rodi "O" ring also. Will keep them from getting out of shape when you change your sediment filters.

I always just use a little of the worlds oldest known lube, saliva aka spit.
