Cut a lid into 55 Gallon Plastic Drum?

A friend of mine gave me a plastic 55 gallon drum that was used to hold vinegar. The problem is it does not have a removable lid only 2 small screw in caps. Is there a way to make a lid and still be able to use it for storing saltwater?

You can get drums with removable lids fairly cheap. Check usplastic.com Sometimes free is not worth the trouble :)

As mentioned you can certainly cut the top out of the drum but what about drilling a hole in the side and hooking up valve with a bulkhead or uniseal.

Yeah, a uniseal would work. Thought about doing something like that with a bulkhead but then I couldn't figure out how I would get the bulkhead screwed in without getting a hand in there.

Ive got the same style drums and put a uniseal and 1" valve in the bottom with no problems. just make sure to get the right size hole saw.
