Crab - Hitchhiker - Safe?

I found this guy on my rock removed the rock fast from the aquarium and got him on my floor - see image attached
Is he safe for a reef aquarium? Currently he is in a glass... George Ps: he is brown and his legs are hairy = oh and it is a male one:frog: |
No idea what it is but most are a bad idea. Would keep it separately until you know for sure.

Im not to much into inverts, so take my words with a grain of salt. However, I scroll the forums a lot, and remember seeing someone with the same looking crab. Consensus was that it was not a good reef inhabitant. I think it was quite dangerous actually - for the tank of course.
I would quarantine him for now until you can get a positive ID. |
Wish I was near you, I’d take him lol
|
IMO, stick him in the sump or give him to someone with an interest in inverts. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks guys,
I do not have a sump therefore cant place him there - probably take him to the LFS :) George |
He's shaped like a predator, so treat him as such to be safe

Looks a bit like a rock crab have you noticed any claw shed in your tank basically if its a rock crab get it out if it gets hungry enough it will eat anything it can catch i might be totally wrong but keep an open mind.
