RO Technical Question
 

Can I get an opinion on putting an inline carbon filter after the deionization canister on an RO system? Or will this actually add ions to my product water or will that be dependent on the carbon filter quality?

First whats your reasoning for the Carbon filter after the DI?

^^^, that would be my question as well, I don't see the need for a post carbon filter....

Frankly I'm not sure. I know that in drinking water applications a good quality carbon filter is the last thing that happens before you drink that water so I thought after removing non organic ions the carbon would take care of anything else that could possibly come off the surface of the resin beads...

If your resin is working properly, there should be a tds reading of ----0---- after the resin. If you add a carbon after the resin, most likely tds wont be 0 anymore. If you want to add something after the resin, add another resin. If you want to add another carbon, add it just before the ro.

I guess essentially the question would be is it possible for the resin to leach any organic compounds into the water that would be removed by carbon?

A reef RODI system already has a carbon filter.

Drinking water doesn't go through as much as the RODI does. At least in terms of filtering.

It would accomplish nothing to have it after the DI.

The filtering order process should not be changed..you can double up if you want but don't change the order...DI last...

I think that the carbon filter is alleged to affect the taste for drinking water. It would add some ions, but nothing dangerous. I'd use some salts additive to improve the flavor, personally, if I cared.
