Leather Toadstool issue
2 Attachment(s)
Hi All
I’ve had this leather toadstool coral for about 2 years over the past 2 weeks it’s closed up, started to lean and turned white, now I’ve noticed some holes in the mushroom, it seems to be disintegrating or something, Any ideas on what’s going on? Thanks |

In general please turn off or down the blue channel when trying to take pictures.. Do you have a log of your water parameters? Do you even routinely test your water? When did this start happening? Did anything change at that time? etc.. etc... The more information the better.. But that does not look like a happy leather coral right now.. |

Hi.
I’ve had my water tested at a LFS incase any of my readings were wrong, they said everything seemed fine, salinity was a bit high at 1.027 so should reduce that slightly Nitrates - 0 Nitrites - 0 Phosphates - 0.5 Ammonia - 0 Ph - 0 It’s been like this for about 10 days but holes only started about 3 days ago after a water change, everything else in the tank is doing great and growing well, just can’t work out what’s gone on with this. I’ve added another picture from this evening with the lights off. |
Lot of people on here have been posting that nutrient poor water (0 nitrate, 0 phosphates) is not the best for dps growth and softie health. In addition you wrote a ph of 0. That is incorrect an not conducive to any life form. Also did you introduce anything new that may be carrying a parasite that is eating the toadstool.

Any changes to lighting within that time? From the looks of it doesn't look like there are any nearby corals that could sting it.

If there is no change in it anytime soon you may want to frag it to save it and grow another one or two or three .....
|
My toadstool likes cleaner water sometimes when its closed for a couple days that tells me i need to do a water change..

Stray voltage in the water? That can cause some weird problems
