Hanna Alk Checker Syringe
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2092674
Hi, I bought the dkh checker recently and a bit confused on the filling of the 1ml reagent. As per the thread linked. The Hanna rep. advises filling it as per the picture. I just want to confirm the correct piston position. The syringe itself is a bit confusing. At the bottom of the syringe is the 1.0ml and at the top is 0.1ml so its inverted. Above the 0.1ml line is a few more graduations which im assuming is 0.0ml. As per the pic in the linked thread the piston position when using the tip included is at the 0.0ml line. Had i not looked closely i would have probably read the 0.1ml as being the line to draw at. In the linked thread the pic is the same syringe that was included. A bit confusing as in some videos it appears the syringe says 1.0ml at the top of the syring like how any normal syringe is graduated. |
The picture shows a syringe drawn up to its capacity, but I think the text with the picture is a bit off, and the syringe should contain 1.0 ml of titrant, as you've indicated. Yes, the lines above the 0.1 level should take you to zero.

Ok, thanks so the piston position at "0.0ml" should be the required 1.0ml reagent to perform the test.

Yes, that's correct. :)

Glad I clicked on this thread.
I just quickly looked at the syringe and assumed the 1 was 1ml when in fact it was .01. I didn't realize the syringe was backwards from most others. I've only been adding .9ml of titrant. |
Yeah, does make a marginal difference in the reading.
Thanks all. |
Whawhut!? I've also been only using .9 ml all this time :(

Right? I had a good laugh, what a dunce. It's all good and stable, just a little off what I thought it's been.
