Going to try to fill in the chip with windshield repair epoxy just for peice of mind

When I was researching a chip, that was called a 'clamshell chip' which was deemed to be 'mostly okay' by experts because its not going to keep splitting/fragmenting down the tank.
But the majority of people said screw that not risking the tank. Its your call. I've got one in my 75 gallon that has not leaked before I had it, or since I got it. |

Ya I picked up this. This stuff is really strong so if there is any structural issue which I hope not the is should bind to ithttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fc57b7e5c6.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
I'd be more concerned with who whacked the tank and with what.
Filling that little thing won't do anything but use up some glue. |
Ur wasting ur time trying to fill n or repair that... better to just leave it b. I’ve seen a lot worse chips on tanks and they hold up just fine. Windshield repair is jus an attempt to stop cracks from further spreading. Does nothing for strength/integrity.

Heres some better picshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...42d0b07725.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...91d71d3fe7.jpg

This would be the side. The circled part is the tiny chip

Wouldn't worry about it. My friend has a 180g with a much more defined chip in the edge of the glass like that. Some people will tell you why take the risk and just replace it. Really up to you...but again I probably wouldn't break down my tank for something like that.

Thanks just figured I would get advice before I decide. It would really suck to have to replace the tank Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
What is the circle next to the chip?

dont looks that deep, you are fine.

I assume its a smaller chip Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
I would fill it with 2 part clear epoxy or a windshield repair kit. It may not be necessary but it will not hurt and it will smooth out the roughness of the edge chip.

Every any luck fixing it, did you have any issues with the tank....
I have a chip in mine but from what I have found out, it cannot be repaired, I attached a photohttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3fbb9ef946.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a3c6c9ecaa.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fe1e67c12f.jpg Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk |
As a past windshield technician (repair and replace glass in cars) I will say this. Glass is fairly stable until it is compromised. Once the initial stability of the glass (a clean edge) is compromised it is almost impossible to say for sure what will happen. It may crack upon impact, it may crack a week down the road, it may be fine until just the right pressure is applied then crack or maybe be fine for a length of time. People who chime in and say “I have a crack like that and it is fine” can’t say yours will or won’t be the same outcome. Glass is funny and can fail at anytime. I’m just saying you are taking a risk of some level and done be surprised some day if you wake up and walk through a wet floor. I hope not but it may happen.

Thats a crack not a chip....that would give me nightmares...
